A few people are more inclined to depression because of hormones or heredity. Hormonal imbalance is known to affect the bodily system as well as the mental disposition.

Usually, pregnant women experience severe depression post-partum because of sudden drop in bodily hormones. Adults who have experienced trauma during childhood also acquire severe depression. People often resist change and therefore sudden changes in life can also trigger depression. In the times of economic uncertainties, depression is a commonly occurring condition across the world.

Sign of Severe Depression

On the other hand, depression can also merely be a case of chemical disproportion in the brain caused by the lack of neurotransmitters like epinephrine or serotonin. Severe depression is majorly characterized by loss of interest in worldly things, low self-esteem, changes in sleeping patterns, mood swings, lack of appetite and chronic sadness. In some cases, the sufferer may perhaps talk about suicide or impending death.

Severe depression is difficult to treat since it is a complicated mental disorder. As soon as you notice these symptoms, you must immediately approach a health professional. In certain cases, the patient may also have delusions and hallucinations. Severe depression symptoms also include seeing imaginary things or hearing voices, even if they do not exist.

The acai berry fruit is known to be indigenous to the South American continent. It was being consumed by the natives since ancient times. Acai berry is known to regulate the body fat as well as detoxify the digestive system. It also deals with diseases related to the heart and blood sugar. On the other hand, due to the fatty acids contained in the berry, it makes it perishable in nature particularly while coming into contact with heat.

Therefore you would notice that acai berry is available in a powder form or a freeze-dried pulp form. Just like any other health supplement, acai berry must be taken in moderation since they can cause adverse health conditions if combined with other nutrients.

You can consume anywhere from 1000 to 4000mg in a capsule or a tablet form, which would be about 1 to 2 pills before meals. This would break down the fat cells as they come into the body and release the energy which could be used throughout the day. If you consume it in a pulp form, then it is advisable to take 100 grams a day. Similarly, if you take it in powder form then you can mix it with about 10 ounces of water. Regardless in what form you take, remember to take it before the meals.

There are a lot of companies which manufacture these products and therefore these are just the recommended guidelines to consume acai berry. If you are taking acai berry supplements, you must read the label and follow the instructions mentioned by the manufacturer. Very few stores offer these products since they are largely available online.

Although the fruit is known to possess a lot of curative properties, like all other nutritional supplements, must never be consumed in raw form. You would lose the effectiveness as soon as you freeze, heat or dry the product.

Things You Must Know About Any Acai Berry Supplement

There are tons of products in the market and each of them claims to be the best, therefore as a user, it is imperative to do your own research for the acai berry supplements. To begin with, since acai berry is a food supplement, it might not produce the same results on everyone. Some might benefit more out of it, whereas some might not see the effects at all.

Acai berry juice is thicker than water and hence be aware of products that are highly diluted in nature. There are quite a few products which do not contain enough acai berry to make any sort of nutritional difference. On the other hand, there are some products which contain too many additional ingredients and are hardly effectual.

Read on the testimonials of previous users, so as to assess the quality of the product. Obviously greater testimonial means happy customers and ensure that these are independent reviews, written by authentic consumers. You should also know that acai berry supplement does not taste good and for all those products that taste differently should be avoided. All these better-tasting products probably have a lot of diluted ingredients added to it.

Acai berry juice is all over the internet off lately and there are hundreds of different products that contain the fruit. The main competition to acai berry is posed by goji fruit and mangosteen. It would be best if you could find a product that contains all of these three ingredients.

The fruit is harvested by Native Americans and forms a part of their staple diet. This fruit is being consumed since hundreds of years, but has become popular in the west recently. A lot of magazine articles, newspapers and TV shows are being dedicated to discuss the benefits of Acai Berry supplement. It has been discovered that these Acai Berries contain a combination of health nutrients for the body. Out of all these nutrients, monounsaturated fats and dietary fibre are of utmost importance.

Acai Berry Supplement & Weight Loss

Acai berries are usually recognised as weight loss supplements, although they also help in restricting the aging process and augment cell recovery. The weight loss properties of the fruit could be attributed to the increase in the metabolic rate, caused by its consumption. Such an increase is triggered by the large amounts of anti-oxidants contained in the fruit. Therefore it leads to fat breakdown and also increases energy levels, relieving stress at the same time. As compared to the other synthetic materials, there are no side effects attached to Acai Berry supplement and hence it simplifies the weight loss process. There is a lot of medical research done, demonstrating the effects of Acai Berry juice on weight loss.

How to Choose the Right Acai Berry Supplement?

We have formulated a list of guidelines which would help you choose the right supplement with Acai Berry and not get scammed.

• Always opt for products which contain 100% pure Amazonian acai berry extract. All the other products are ineffective.

• Do not choose the products which are extremely cheap. Acai Berries are manually harvested from the Brazilian rainforest and therefore have a lot of labour costs attached to it. An average price would be $40-$50 per bottle.

• Ensure that the vendor offers a money-back guarantee. In a few cases, the product might not work and hence such a guarantee would mean that you do not lose your money.

Regardless of what kind of food you consume, there would always be some corresponding side effects. However, the question is the degree of its effect. For an instance, people often feel hyper after the consumption of caffeine or you may perspire if you consume peppers. Just like any other health food out there, there are side effects attached to acai berry supplement as well.

Is the Acai Berry Supplement Worth Its Cost?

Over the years, acai berry has been harvested from the rain forests of Amazon. It is believed that the natives used to consume this fruit to fight cancer cells, since it is rich in antioxidants. In addition, acai berry juice is rich in vitamin A, B, C, calcium, iron and other minerals. Although there are a lot of benefits of acai berry, there are some negative effects as well. The primary side effect is the reduction in one’s appetite. However, there are no known side effects on the other parts of the body such as the heart or the liver.

People have often experienced faster weight loss with such a property of acai berry supplement. Therefore, it is not even considered as a major side effect. Acai berry juice is known to be a good cleanser to eliminate toxins from the body and induce the important minerals or vitamins in the body. Suppressed appetite would help you stay slim, without any efforts. However, in order to notice the reduced appetite, you would need to consume a lot of acai berries.

When we come to the taste of acai berry, it would naturally taste good and appealing as compared to the other pills in the market. Therefore, a lot of people choose to consume this as a health supplement as opposed to the other health products.

You can use hypnosis to lose weight permanently. Obviously, there isn’t a magic solution for weight loss anywhere, but there are some positive steps you can take to drop those added pounds.

Why Use Hypnosis to Lose Weight Permanently?

Weight loss isn’t all about starving yourself. Your body and mind work together, and this is particularly evident for those who tend to binge when going through difficult times. Emotional eating is seen as a means to comfort the body, warding off the inevitable turmoil of life by finding solace in delicious and fattening foods. While you may enjoy the feeling of sinking your teeth into a huge plate of fries and a fat-filled hamburger, you aren’t doing your body any favors. You are also allowing your mind to influence what you put into your body.

Weight loss really must be a conscious, logical choice that you make. Mindless eating will sabotage your diet, so you have to change not only your conscious thoughts but your unconscious thoughts as well. When you use hypnosis to lose weight permanently, you change your thought processes. You are actually changing your state of mind so that you lose weight willingly. While you still have to eat right and exercise, once you’ve convinced your mind that this is what you need to do, the battle will be much easier.

Understanding Hypnosis

Not everyone can be hypnotized. In fact, a person’s motivation has a direct bearing on whether or not she is able to enter a trance-like state. Many believe that hypnosis makes use of the placebo effect, meaning a person must really believe that hypnosis can work to influence weight loss. Hypnosis is actually a process, and whether you attempt to be hypnotized by someone who knows what he is doing or you try self-hypnosis, you need to follow the process to reach your goal.

* First, you must decide what you want as a result of hypnosis. If it is weight loss, then concentrate on how much weight you want to lose. Don’t set too high a goal in the beginning, however. The key is to change your state of mind. You can increase your weight loss goal as you progress.
* Next, begin self-relaxation methods. Whether you intend on following through with self-hypnosis or if you want to use a professional hypnotist, learning how to relax will give you many benefits, including releasing the stress of day to day living.
* After you’ve become more adept at self-relaxation, you may want to try your hand at self-hypnosis. During your hypnosis sessions, either you or the hypnotist should give positive suggestions for losing weight. Remember, your goal is to change your subconscious thoughts.

Hypnosis Steps

Hypnosis isn’t as difficult as many people believe. There are basically four states of hypnosis, including relaxation state, deepening state, suggestion state, and termination.

Relaxation

The first step won’t come automatically. You’ll need to practice relaxing. This is often more difficult for some people than it is for others. Don’t fight it, and don’t force it. Spend some time in the morning or evening simply relaxing your body. For some, it helps to focus on each area of the body beginning with the toes or the head. This part may only take a few minutes or as much as an hour. Once you’ve practiced this a few times, you’ll begin to feel the difference in how your body responds.

Deepening

We’ve all witnessed TV shows in which a hypnotist dangles a watch on a chain back and forth in front of the patient, chanting the words you’re getting sleepy. While this might seem ridiculous, some semblance of this method is often used in a real session. Many hypnotists like to use metronomes or other rhythmic devices to encourage their patients to enter a hypnotic state. If you are attempting self-hypnosis, the mental count-down method might work best. Once you are in a relaxed state, begin counting downward from any number, imagining that you are drifting into a subconscious state. Don’t allow yourself to watch for the moment when you slip into hypnosis, however, or it will never happen. Remember, the key to this is to relax! Keep your breathing slow and rhythmic as well.

Suggestion

The point of the suggestion state is simple; you want to open your mind to alternative suggestions. You’ve already chosen a goal, and now is the time to suggest this goal to yourself. You’ll need to think (not actually talk) in first person. Use comments like the following:

* I’m going to lose weight.
* I will eat healthy foods.
* I will exercise.
* I’m eating less each day.

For many people, mental pictures work better than words. Picture in your head the foods you will eat, the exercises you will do, etc.

Termination

Finally, you should consciously end your hypnotic state by mentally bringing an end to the hypnosis session. You can do this by counting or thinking to yourself that the session is over.

Finding Success

When you use hypnosis to lose weight permanently, you are using your mind to control your body. Remember, hypnosis isn’t a magic cure-all, but it can help you change your way of thinking. The subconscious mind is a powerful object that can be used to change your way of life. Tap into your subconscious, and begin losing weight today!

Pranayama practice is based on the understanding that while breathing is an involuntary practice, how you breathe is voluntary and can affect both mind and body.

Common Relaxing Yoga Breathing Techniques

If you want your yoga breathing to be relaxing or calming, there are specific breaths you can do, including the common Three-Part Breath, Cooling Breath and Alternate Nostril Breathing.

Three-Part Breath

The Three-Part Breath is a good beginning breathing technique. You can do this either sitting upright and cross-legged, or while lying on your back. Begin by watching your breath, focusing on the natural rhythm of your inhalations and exhalations, and clearing your mind. Once you are settled into a rhythm, you can then inhale deeply through the nose, as you expand through the belly. On the exhale, expel all the air out through your nose, drawing your belly in toward the spine to make sure you have totally emptied out the air from your lungs. On each breath, inhale and exhale a little more air. Repeat for 10 breaths.

Cooling Breath

Cooling Breath is a perfect way to chill out after a long day, or a hot yoga practice. Sitting in a cross-legged position, take two to three deep breaths. Roll your tongue if you can. If you can’t roll your tongue, purse your lips to make an “o” shape. Stick your tongue out slightly. Inhale through the mouth, then exhale through the nose. Repeat this pattern five to ten times.

Alternate Nostril Breathing

Alternate Nostril Breathing helps to restore balance to the body. Sitting in a cross-legged position, fold your fingers so that only your thumb, ring finger and pinky are showing. Cover your right nostril with your thumb and inhale through your left nostril. On the next breath, cover your left nostril with your ring finger and inhale through your right nostril. Repeat the breathing, alternating nostrils for five to 10 breaths.

Common Invigorating Yoga Breathing Techniques

For an energizing yoga breath, try Lion’s Breath or Ocean Breath breathing.

Lion’s Breath

Lion’s Breath is a fun and easy way to release all the tension in the muscles of the face. You can do it in any yoga pose or while kneeling. Inhale through the nose. As you exhale through the mouth, make a “ha” sound while opening your mouth as wide as possible and sticking your tongue out and down towards your chin. On the inhale, return your face to a neutral position. Repeat three to five times.

Ocean Breath

Ocean Breath may also be referred to as Hissing Breath or Victorious Breath and is most commonly done with Vinyasa yoga, a type of yoga which synchronizes yoga poses with the rhythm of the breath. Ocean Breath can be difficult to master, so practice it while sitting cross-legged before using it in connection with poses. First, inhale and exhale through the mouth. On an exhale, close the back of the throat slightly, as though trying to fog up a mirror. Once you have mastered the sound on the exhale, try constricting the throat slightly on an inhale. You should sound similar to Darth Vader, or ocean waves crashing. Once you have conquered the sound, use it as you inhale during each pose. In this way, you can send your breath to the parts of the body that need it on each pose.

A Reminder for Practicing Breathing

It is important to note that learning yoga breathing can be difficult. Some people even experience dizziness or lightheadedness, so you may want to learn from an expert, or practice with other people around to avoid injury. Yoga breathing exercises can help relax or invigorate the body and can be used on their own, with relaxing yoga music, or with yoga poses. Many people find that learning in a class setting is the best way to learn yoga breathing.

Midwives and naturopaths have used black and blue cohosh to induce labor for centuries. The combination of these herbs is often enough to get a slow labor moving a little faster or get a post term labor started. It is very important that you discuss these herbs with your doctor or midwife before using them.

What Is Cohosh?

Black cohosh and blue cohosh are two different plants. Used together in a tincture form, they are especially effective at inducing post term labor.

Blue Cohosh

Blue cohosh is also known as papoose root. Native Americans were aware of this plant and used it to increase contractions or start labor. They collected the root of the blue cohosh from the wild in the autumn and dried it. Most people use it as a tincture, but you can also take it in capsule or tea form.

Blue cohosh does not increase contractions. It is an antispasmodic. Because it is an antispasmodic, women often use it when a miscarriage threatens. It relaxes the uterus and keeps it from contracting when it isn’t time for birth. In much the same way, blue cohosh can be taken to help stop the hard Braxton Hicks contractions often referred to as false labor. In the birth process, you can use blue cohosh to coordinate the uterine contractions and make them more effective.

Black Cohosh

Black cohosh is a member of the buttercup family. It is also called snakeroot. Like blue cohosh, practitioners use the roots of black cohosh. It is available in tincture, capsule, and tea. Black cohosh seems to work on the body in the same way as estrogen does, but research has not backed up this theory.

Using Black and Blue Cohosh to Induce Labor

These two herbs are most effective at inducing labor in a post term pregnancy when used together. This process will not normally begin labor if the uterus is not ready. You should not try to induce labor until beyond 40 weeks gestation. This is a precaution to ensure your baby is ready to be born.

Using black and blue cohosh to induce labor is especially effective if you are already having weak or irregular contractions. These two herbs work together to strengthen and regulate uterine contractions. Unlike conventional forms of induction, the herbs work with your body in a natural way. This keeps the labor moving along at a natural rate so that it isn’t as likely to get overwhelming for the laboring mother.

Instructions for Use

The following instructions for using B and B tincture, or a black and blue cohosh tincture, are an example of how this combination is most commonly used. Inducing labor without the advice of your health care practitioner can be dangerous to both you and your baby and is not recommended. Please talk to your physician about any concerns or questions you have regarding pregnancy, labor and delivery.

Get a good night’s sleep.

Early the next morning put 20 drops of B and B tincture in warm water and drink it.

Make the same mixture and drink it every hour for five hours.

Have a light lunch.

Begin taking the mixture again every hour until dinnertime.

If contractions have not begun, stop taking the tincture. Try again in three or four days.

Tips

While taking the tincture, continue to be active. Walk around the house, go shopping at a nearby mall, or take a walk around the block. The more active you are, the better chance that the contractions will continue.

Stimulating the nipples can also help strengthen contractions. You or your partner can do this or, if you are a nursing mom, nursing your child often during the day can help.

A capsule of Evening Primrose oil can be opened and applied to the cervix for a few days before using the tincture. This should help “ripen” the cervix and increase the chances that the induction will be successful.

Sexual intercourse can be a very effective way to induce labor while taking the tincture. The prostaglandins in semen help to soften the cervix.

Side Effects

Generally you won’t be taking black and blue cohosh long enough to experience any side effects. Herbalists agree that these herbs are safe to take at 40 weeks gestation and will not harm your baby. There have been some concerns that blue cohosh could cause heart problems in a baby when used during pregnancy, however this was one isolated incident and there is no evidence that it was the blue cohosh that caused the problem.

Use Caution

If you plan to take herbs during your pregnancy, you should be aware of a few cautions. The FDA does not regulate businesses that sell herbs, so herbs purchased from different companies may be different in potency and purity. The herbs may contain preservatives or other chemicals as well. There is also some risk when taking herbs at higher doses, and there may also be interactions with other medications that you might be taking. Your physician or midwife should be involved if you are interested in using herbs to induce labor to lower the risk of adverse effects.

Everyone’s body is different. There are many more natural ways to induce labor. Remember though, that often a little patience is all that is necessary. You should also remember to use caution when using herbs to induce labor. Be sure to consult your physician with any questions regarding pregnancy, labor and delivery. No article can substitute for the advice of your physician.

Anger moods can often appear without any warning. They can just pop up out of the blue from seemingly nowhere, even when you do not consciously choose to be angry. Indeed, the vast majority of the time you do not decide to become angry, but anger moods can come to the surface without any warning, often for no justifiable reason at all. Many times, you don’t even have any idea that we are angry until you feel the anger taking over.

Fortunately, by understanding more about anger moods, you can begin to control the anger and reduce the stress in our lives. When you are able to recognize and address the anger in your body, you can more effectively manage anger moods. Controlling anger moods is an integral component of overall stress management.

How to Control Anger Moods

There are many ways to help you manage your anger moods. Here are a few methods to effectively control the anger before it controls you:

Anger Management Worksheets

Anger Management Worksheets

Anger Management Worksheets are a great way to understand more about your anger. After all, the key to managing anger is understanding what causes it. Once you know why your anger is manifesting, you can begin to address the underlining issues. Anger management worksheets can provide valuable information about the root causes of your anger, and what you can do to stay calm the next time anger takes hold.

Take a deep breath

Anger is not going to subside if you add fuel to the fire. In other words, don’t go on the rampage once you start to feel the anger boiling up in your body. Try to avoid any confrontations where your anger will control the situation. The best thing to do is calm down and take a deep breath. Taking a deep breath relaxes the body and helps to slow down your heart rate and alleviate the stress and immediate anger in your body. This may be contrary to everything you want to do when anger takes hold, but stepping away from the drama is much more beneficially and proactive than reacting to the power of your anger and other emotions. Do not permit yourself to be drawn into a destructive reaction of your anger.

Anger is Contagious

Anger is most certainly contagious. Emotional contagion is the psychological term used to describe the effect of how we can effectively catch the moods of others. These moods can be happy, silly, sad, or angry. A companion or employee who is in a very upbeat mood will often help to raise the mood of others around them. This is especially true in work situations, when this is particularly beneficial in working with clients, customers, patients or coworkers.

Anger Moods are More Contagious

Though happiness is contagious, the bad news is that anger moods are more contagious than positive moods. So just as an especially upbeat coworker can influence a positive reaction in his or her coworkers, an angry employee can set off a firestorm of bad energy. It’s like a wave of negativity which ripples out from the source of the anger. Only this wave is much more powerful than a wave of happiness. The wave can submerge all those around the source of the anger. According to studies, anger moods at work are increasing and becoming much more common. Controlling stress at work will not only help your mental and physical health, but also the productivity of those around you.

What is the Purpose of Anger?

Anger might seem a pointless emotion, but it is actually rooted in the evolution of humans. It is in fact an integral component to our survival as a species. Anger, and our fight or flight instincts reside in the amygdale, a very primitive part of the brain.

A Final Word on Managing Anger

Once we know the causes of the anger and know how to perceive our various anger moods, we can begin to address the situation and alleviate the anger. It is always best to calm down instead of letting the anger control your immediate actions.

Turmeric is commonly used in curries and other Indian dishes, but its value goes beyond the culinary. Medicinally, turmeric has been highly valued for centuries and used in ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine to cleanse the liver as well as for treating other issues. Recently, turmeric has also been examined as an herb that could help ease arthritis pain.

About Turmeric

Turmeric or Curcuma longa, is a perennial plant that is part of the ginger family. Its roots are dried and ground into the familiar yellow powder found in so many kitchens. It can also be purchased as a supplement.

In ayurveda, turmeric is considered an anti-inflammatory herb. It is also known as a potent antioxidant. In traditional Chinese medicine, turmeric is used to treat liver and gallbladder issues, chest congestion and menstrual problems.

Researching Turmeric for Arthritis

Researchers are studying turmeric for the management of arthritis. Because turmeric is an anti-inflammatory, this would seem like a logical use for the herb and it has been used in this manner in India for years. Herbalists say that the effectiveness of turmeric is equal to that of steroids without unpleasant side effects. But what does the science say?

The most well known study on the effectiveness of turmeric for arthritis was conducted by Dr. Janet Funk along with researchers at the University of Arizona. In this animal study, researchers replicated the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis in rats.

Some rats were treated with turmeric before symptoms were induced while others were treated eight days after symptoms were present. At the end of the study, it was concluded that turmeric was most effective at preventing arthritis before symptoms were present, though they acknowledged that it may also work if taken as soon as symptoms presented themselves. More studies are needed before a conclusion can be drawn from this hypothesis.

Should You Try Turmeric?

Evidence supporting the use of turmeric for arthritis is promising but limited. Clearly, more research is needed to establish turmeric as a definite preventative. That said, scientists already know that turmeric is an effective anti-inflammatory so it may prove useful in treating arthritis pain, especially if used in combination with other herbs.

Cautions

Since turmeric is used in so many tasty foods, you might assume that it is totally safe for anyone to use. When used for cooking this is true, however, taking large quantities of a turmeric supplement can give you an upset stomach, so don’t get too carried away with using it. If you have gallstones you should ask your doctor before trying turmeric. You should also consult your doctor if you are diabetic because taking turmeric can lead to hypoglycemia in diabetics.

Turmeric is a natural blood thinner, so if you are taking anticoagulants, including aspirin, you should use caution taking turmeric. Stop taking this herb at least two weeks before surgery to prevent slowed blood clotting. It can also interfere with antacids as well as medications for diabetes. It’s also important to note that turmeric is not FDA approved to treat any health conditions.

You should avoid turmeric if you are pregnant because it could cause miscarriage.

Considerations

If you think using turmeric for arthritis is right for you, discuss it with your doctor. If he agrees that turmeric is a safe option, supplement with a standardized powder and use as directed. Turmeric has other health benefits as well so it is well worth considering for your regular supplement regimen.
